Problem With Gastric Acid

The vital stomach acid helps the body digest the food eaten. Harmful viruses, bacteria and fungi are destroyed quickly by them. The problem of gastric acid is only when it flows into the esophagus, where it causes the unpleasant heartburn.

Symptoms:

Typical characteristics of heartburn are a burning sensation in the esophagus, which can range up into the throat, increased gastric pressure, regurgitation of gastric contents and perhaps a sense of nausea and / or stabbing pain.

Physical causes of heartburn:

A muscle at the stomach entrance actually prevents the unwanted backflow (reflux) of acidic stomach contents into the esophagus. Does the muscle does not completely caused the leaked gastric irritation or even inflammation of the sensitive mucosa.

Heartburn usually occurs immediately after eating and when the supine position is taken. If it has come in the stomach contents due to gravity to simply easier in the esophagus. Even all that the increasing pressure on the stomach increases the reflux. These include for example very tight clothing, obesity caused by a child and the pressure on the stomach during pregnancy.

Treatment & Prevention of heartburn:

Heartburn is favored by a variety of factors. The higher the acid concentration of gastric contents, the greater are the problems. It is therefore an excessive production of stomach acid to prevent. The greater the amount of food is, the greater the acid production.

The acid production is stimulated in particular enhanced by:

- Very greasy, spicy and highly seasoned foods
- Coffee consumption, smoking and alcohol consumption
- Drinks with high acid concentration such as fruit juices
- Internal stress and anxiety

Regarding the heartburn it is best for meals to be distributed evenly throughout the day and to limit the dinner in scope (because of lying down) and find a comfortable balance of stress.

Remedy for heartburn:

In every pharmacy you will get several non-prescription products (“Antazidia”) which parts of the stomach acid neutralizing and help make a direct and immediate heartburn. Recommended are the only drugs to prevent especially the excess acidity. These include for example Hydrotalcite, and Magaldrate Algedrate. Other drugs (eg, “ranitidine”) slow the production of gastric acid from the start.

For long-lasting symptoms and severe symptoms is still valid as ever: See a doctor to rule out serious diseases. In addition, a doctor can prescribe medication if necessary, support the closure of the muscle ring, thus reducing acid reflux.
